Melissa Lines has been raising sheep
since 1992. She owns and operates Skylines Farm Sheep & Wool near Harvard, Idaho, and
sustainably manages her flock of more than 70 sheep and their lambs.
Melissa direct markets premium wool fleeces for hand spinners, purebred
breeding animals, and natural, grass-fed locker lamb.
Since 1998, she has sold each year's
entire wool crop to spinners, weavers, and knitters across the country from
an extensive website that she designed and maintains herself. Visitors to
the site can view close-up photos and descriptions of each sheep's fleece,
and read detailed information about her organic health care and management
practices. Future plans call for expanding her Internet presence to direct
market her grass-fed lamb to consumers over the web as well.
Apprenticeship offers a comprehensive
program of study that incorporates detailed experience in all aspects of
raising sheep using organic methods and successfully marketing their
products.
Apprentice living quarters may be available in main house. Camping
available on farm or at nearby private and state campgrounds. Farm is
