Lora Lea Misterly was raised on a farm in central Washington where her family had a small dairy and her mother made farm style cheese and butter for the family. That cheese was the inspiration behind the cheese she now makes at Quillisascut. Lora Lea loves to garden and process the foods for the pantry. As a child she helped her mother prepare fruits for canning and remembers standing on a stool at the kitchen sink slipping the skins off blanched peaches, cutting them in half and putting them in canning jars. After high school she attended The Evergreen State College where she gained the insightful piece of advice that "it is okay to follow your heritage." In pursuit of her heritage she took classes in horticulture at Wenatchee Valley College and began dreaming the farm dream. She feels there is important wisdom on farms that should be experienced by everyone.

" I feel it is the duty for all of us who love working with the land to share the information we have gained with others. This farm school is my goal for passing on the knowledge gathered over the last 20 years on this piece of land."
