“Cultivating
Success” is an innovative, community-based educational program designed to
enhance small farm viability in the
Pacific Northwest. The courses, offered by
County Extension offices, in partnership with UI, WSU, and the non-profit
Rural Roots, focus on ways to help farmers identify and profit from trends
in the marketplace and improve their production practices. Course topics
include business and market plans; alternative pest and soil management; and
value-added fruit, vegetable, livestock and dairy production. As of 2005,
over 900 students in over 16 different communities have participated in
these sustainable farming and agricultural entrepreneurship courses.
This workshop is for anyone interested in offering a Cultivating Success course
in your county, or just to learn more about the program. We are also inviting
those of you who are already offering Cultivating Success courses to attend to
share your experiences and to learn about the new curriculum and resources we
have developed for the Agricultural Entrepreneurship course.
Lunch and mileage reimbursement will be provided.
Please RSVP, if you have not already done so. If you need more information
